Tips for a Cheap Dallas Movie Marathon

Welcome to your weekend edition of the Dallas Frugalista. Looking to escape the heat? I know I am! Many movie theaters are showing popular kids movies for as little as $1. Unbelievable, right?! Parents, grandparents, students, and movie buffs, let's begin!

Studio Movie Grill has 3 exciting family offers now through the end of August. Locations span the entire Metroplex.

• 2010 Summer Children's Series has showings Monday- Thursday with tickets $1 for children and $2 for adults. Movies featured include both new hits like "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" and oldies but goodies like "Curious George" and "Muppets in Space". 

• Available in SMG's Arlington, Lewisville & Plano locations, KIDTOONS  offers $2 admission every weekend at 11:00 am to their featured monthly kids movie. 

• For children with special needs, SMG offers Special Needs Screenings at their Plano and Arlington locations. Admission is free for children and regular price for accompanying adults. The next movie shown is Ramona & Beezus Saturday, July 31st at 11:00 am.  

Carmike Cinemas have a variety of offers this summer.

• Summer Kid's Series Tuesday mornings now through August 10th include $1 admission, $1 popcorn, and $1 drinks! Movies include "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and "Tooth Fairy". 
• KIDTOONS features "Sesame Workshop Summer Beach Party". Today is the last showing for $3 (kids) and $5 (adults).

AMC is hosting a Summer MovieCamp Tuesdays at 10 am, now through August 10th. All proceeds from the $1 admission and concessions including concession combos for $4 (30% off) will go to 2 of AMC's charities. Upcoming movies include "Kung Fu Panda" and "How to Train Your Dragon".

Cinemark is presenting their Summer Movie Clubhouse with weekday morning movies for only 50 cents (if purchased in a 10 pack in advance) or $1 (if purchased at the box office)!! Movies, times, and dates vary by location.

In my circle of friends I have been the "go-to girl" for finding bargains on an array of things. From purchasing airline tickets and hotels to groceries, toys, clothes, prescriptions, furniture, and more, I get a thrill from saving my family money, or as I like to say, buying high quality items at a generic price. You would not believe the deal I found this morning at Target! There were 3 aisles of toys on clearance for 75% off! It was really Christmas in July! Included in my purchase was a Step 2 sand and water table for $13, Playmobil Alligator Hunter's Hovercraft Play Set for $3.75, Playmobil Take Along Pet Clinic for $11.50, a Fancy Nancy Play Phone for $3.75, a Baby Alive Whoopsie Doo Doo Doll doll for $7 and a FurReal animated kitty for $5! It was the PERFECT opportunity to stock up on birthday and Christmas gifts! Target only clearances their items twice a year (the other time is late December/early January). All Target stores clearance out items at different times so it's best to call ahead. Enjoy!
